Newest hair

I change my hair so often that unfortunately I have lost a lot of length due to it being damaged and having to cut off all of the split ends! The only answer was to get my hands on some hair extensions!

I have tried a wig from Hot Hair before, you can read my post here, but that was when I had a normal colour in my hair!

The problem with having un-naturally dyed hair is I would never be able to find the right colour match, but I decided to give it a go by dying them myself!

The ones I ordered were the 8 piece 19 inch human hair clip ins, I went for the shade 101 pearl platinum as my own hair was bleached white/blonde before I dyed it. I also picked up a Tange Teezer wet hair shower brush to help brush them after I had washed the dye out.

As you can see, you get loads of hair in the pack! I actually ended up only using 6 of the 8 pieces once dying them all.

To dye them, I mixed up my dyes (the same as I would to dye my own hair), I used 3 different colours, a more navy for the roots, going into a blue turquoise and then green for the tips. As you can see I laid a towel on the bathroom floor as this can get messy!

I dyed each piece one at a time, making sure it was fully saturated with dye.

Once they were all done, I left them for 30 mins and then washed out the dye carefully, I then hung them up to dry after roughly blow drying them.

As you can see they turned out so well! As the clips are light because the original hair was blonde, you can take a sharpie or similar permanent marker and draw over them to change the colour if you feel the need to.

Here are some pics of before and after, excuse the fact I have no make up on (I did this the evening they arrived as I was impatient and couldn’t wait!)

You can see the length of my natural hair and how there isn’t any green on the ends (not yet anyway!)

Look at the difference they make! The colour match turned out so well and they blend in great. I am so impressed by how soft they feel too!

I think it is great being able to dye them as well so you can get the perfect colour match or use them to add another colour into your hair.

You can see from the back how long they are! I have so many different shades of blue in my hair as you can see, but they match really well.

Overall, I am so happy with these extensions. I plan on trimming them slightly and layering them into my hair for a more natural look as they are very long compared to my natural hair.

For a more permanent look you can buy tape online which you can attach to the hair to create tape in extensions rather than clip in. This is something I may look into because as easy as clip ins are, I would love to wear them all the time and it will also help the extensions fade colour at the same rate as my natural hair if they were washed as often.

Hoping to stay blue/green for a while and embrace my inner mermaid 🙂

I need to stop changing my hair!

So after dying my hair to become a “mermaid” I soon realised if I wanted to wear extensions all the time I would need another set. The other ones were perfect but as soon as I washed my hair and it faded then my extensions didn’t match. I didn’t want to keep washing them every time I washed my own hair so really needed a set that would match my faded hair!

You can see above how much hair you actually get!

This set are from www.dolleduphair.co.uk and are very reasonably priced at £64.99, I went for the 18″ 160g in a blond so they were suitable to dye. I dyed them to match my hair and the result was perfect. They are thick, the perfect length and so easy to dye!

You can see above how easy it is to lay them flat and dye them. I diluted my dye with conditioner so it would match my faded hair. I dyed each strip one at a time until they were all covered and then I let them process.

They feel so soft and blend in really well! I am always please when I can find a product for a good price that is of such great quality. When I first wore extensions (about 10 years ago) I remember paying at least £150 for a set of clip ins!

yet ANOTHER hair change…

I am ALWAYS changing my hair and recently haven’t had any extensions to match. The last set I had were brown that I used about a year ago. Since then I have changed my hair about ten times! I decided I wanted pick/purple/blue hair and wanted to stick with it so decided to give Irresistible me a go. I ordered a set in blonde (I bleach my hair to blonde before I dye it these odd colours!)

The set arrived in a cute box and had two sections, One contains just one piece of hair (for you to test the colour) and then you can return them for exchange if it is wrong before you open the main section.

Inside the pack contains a crazy amount of hair. A lot more than I would need!

I soon cracked on and dyed them to match my hair, now I look a mermaid 🙂

Here is before and after:

They blended so well and I am really happy with them! It did take me a while to dye them though as they are so thick and because I had to dye them with three different shades to match my hair!

I was so impressed with the quality and thickness of them and they were so soft even after washing and dying them.

The ones I went for were these in 20inch and 200grams, I probably could have done with a lot less in weight! 🙂

Hair extensions

I finally got my hands on some fab looking hair extensions through etailPR, these came from an online shop called www.hairtrade.com. Not only do they have a massive range of extensions they also sell wigs, hair accessories, face and body care and nail varnishes, so definitely check them out!

I have recently dyed my hair as it was a brown and blonde mess but as it is now all brown its a lot easier to blend in extensions!

The extensions are as above, I particularly like the smaller pieces as these are great to fill in at the front! The extensions are made from 100% human hair, I think I bought my first set about 10 years ago and have probably bought around 3 or 4 sets since then as I changed my hair so much I would only wear them for a month or so then get bored. These extensions are so soft when you get them out of the packet and I think they are the best quality ones I have tried, Previously I have ordered some online and spent over £100 but these are far superior and they are a great price! I went for the 18″ (really long on me) and these retail at £59.99, the set I have can be found here. There is also a great video can watch to show you how to put them in.

The light brown shade was a great match as you can see in the pictures! I plan on keeping this colour for a while now and might even wear these for my wedding next year. The great thing with extensions is you can put them in your hair however you want (be sure to have enough hair over the top to hide the clips though!). For me as I have quite thick hair I like to make sure I put my extensions quite low down on my head rather than starting half way up as most people seem to. Everyone finds their own way of doing their hair so do whatever feels and looks right for you!

Really need a night out now to show off my new hair!
