New House

One of the very first things you should do when you decide to sell your current property is look for another one to move into. You may decide to rent for a little bit or buy another property straight away. You may already know what area you want to move to, so it is just a case of finding the right property for your needs.

There are several different types of property available for you to move into, these include apartments and houses. If you want to move into an apartment and you are in no rush to move then you should take a look at off the plan apartments. These are apartments that haven’t been built yet and you are just going off what they look like on paper.

When you have sorted out where you are moving to and you are ready to get your current home sorted for a sale then there are several things to do.

Clear The Junk

The first step in prepping your home for the market is to declutter and open up the space you have available. You should do this so when potential buyers come round they can see what space they have to play with. You are after all only selling the house, not your belongings in it. If potential buyers are not able to envision their own personal items within the property then they won’t want to put an offer in.

To effectively declutter you should go to each room and sort your belongings into four piles. These consist of the items you want to keep, throw away, donate, and sell. It is always a good idea to have a yard or garage sale when you move out. This gives other people a chance to buy your items and for you to make some money.

Deep, Thorough Clean

Finally, you should make sure that your home is in pristine condition for when you take photos for the listing. If you have all your belongings lying around and mess everywhere then the photos won’t do your home any justice.

Make sure you clean every room and get into all the corners where dust and debris are notorious for collecting. If you have carpets then you should hoover these and if you can, shampoo them. This will get the ground in dirt up and your carpets as good as new. If you have hardwood flooring then you should sweep this, mop it, and then steam it to ensure all the dust and allergens have gone.
