This year has been a strange year so far, with the world not knowing what is going on with Covid and with the UK spending most of the last year so far in lockdown. Your standard 9-5 office and retails jobs haven’t been the same and people are looking for online careers more than ever right now. There has been a massive increase in the amount of bloggers making a living full time and it is becoming a fast growing industry.

Nowadays companies don’t just rely on TV/radio adverts or billboards, they are choosing to take on bloggers/influencers as they seem to have more of an influence on the public than a standard advert.
Bloggers and influencers are very similar but often bloggers concentrate purely on written content whereas influencers can be a lot more active on a variety of platforms and tend to share more pictures and videos.
Once of my favourite new influencers I have discovered is Jessica Bishop and I think she provides such great information about being money savvy when planning for a wedding and she provides information on a wide variety of social media channels. I always find myself drawn to influencers that aren’t just on one platform and I really like watching videos as you feel like you get to know the person a little bit better. I love how some influencers you really feel like you personally know them as you see insights into their lives, at home, their family, their pets etc so you almost feel like a friend which in turn then makes you want to trust their opinions and try out the products they are sharing online.
There can be a lot of challenges involved in being an influencer or working in a role where you are looking for social media talent to help promote your business or brand. As a brand or business you have to make sure they are a good fit.
Being a blogger myself, I know how important it is to make sure I believe in the brand or product that I share on my website. I don’t really wear much make up anymore so you won’t see me post much about that but as I have always had coloured hair that I do myself then I post a lot about hair products and hair dyes as that fits well with me and my personality.
I really do think its a great way for brands to reach a wider audience online and I think this year more than ever has seen the rise in successful bloggers and influencers. It is good that with most social platforms you can see the impressions and activity per post so this can be shared with the brand and they can work out what kind of people have been targeted and also how successful the advert/review was.
It is definitely a lot easier nowadays to go into more online/social jobs than it was a few years ago and there is also a lot more demand. I think with Covid it has pushed more people to look for different work and not always the standard 9-5 job.
