Collaborative post:
The number of people working from home has dramatically increased over the last year, this is obviously mainly down to the pandemic as people are trying to stay home more and more. However, even as things begin to open up more, a lot of businesses have continued to offer working from home and keep it as an option for a lot of employees. Working from home can feel so different to some people. Instead of the office environment they would be used too, it can be hard to get motivated or keep a good work structure as you have the distractions of home while working.
If you are struggling to adapt to the home working life and need some help to get and stay on track with working from home then hopefully, these few tips will help you get the help you need to make working from home better for you.

Try to stick to a routine
If you do not have a set schedule to adhere to each day it can be hard for people to remain focussed and productive to get tasks done. What you need to do in this instance is to take it upon yourself to set a routine and schedule that you are to follow each day, what this will do is give you a structure while working making it feel more like working in the office, this helps to keep you on track and focussed while completing tasks so you cannot get distracted as easy.
Make sure you have a dedicated workspace
When working from home you need to minimise distractions as much as possible and treat it like you were going into the office. So you need to make sure you have a workspace that is for you only to work in and it is kept nice and tidy. Make sure anyone else in the house is aware this is your office and it is out of bounds during your shift except for emergencies obviously. This will help to reduce distractions and make it feel like you are at the office as opposed to home.
Keep equipment maintained
Obviously working from home you are going to be responsible for your equipment and keeping it working. There is nothing worse than missing out of paid work because you have not kept your equipment up to date. Hopefully your company will have IT support you can use if you have an issue especially if it is equipment provided by the company but making sure it is kept clean and tidy and is switched off when it needs to be is very important to make sure there are no sudden issues. You also need to make sure it is kept up to date, should you have any issues with equipment you need to try and rectify it as quickly as possible.
If you are starting a new job working from home or have been working from home already but you are just struggling to get to grips with it, then these few tips should help start to get you on track and make working from home easier for you on a daily basis.
