Top Tips For A Happy And Healthy Dog

Collaborative post:

If you own a dog, you know how rewarding it can be to see your four-legged friend grow and develop. You’ll also know how exciting it is to see them develop their own personalities, and nothing compares to it. When you get a dog, the most important thing to remember is to keep him or her safe and happy at all times. You also need to make sure that you have plans in place for when they get older and their health begins to decline. There are things that you can do to keep them as happy and healthy for as long as possible, which is what we are going to look at here.

Make sure they have a balanced, nutritional diet

What your dog eats has a significant impact on their health and overall well being. The wrong diet can set them up for a lifetime of obesity and other health issues. The correct diet can help them stay slim and active and in a good condition, from their eyes to the glossiness of their coats. It is advisable to do your research and get the best healthy dog food that your budget allows, with the occasional treat. Treats should make up a maximum of ten per cent of their daily calorie intake, so be careful not to overdo it.

Make sure they have plenty of exercise

Puppies and adult dogs need different amounts of exercise. It can vary from the basics to intense exercise.  You have the choice of taking your dog on a daily walk or enrolling them in agility training courses. Dogs require exercise, however you have control over how strenuous or enjoyable the exercise is. Even the simplest activities can make a big difference for your dog, which is perfect if your schedule doesn’t allow you to go on an hour-long walk every day. The second thing you should remember is that you should sometimes switch it up with your dog.

Take them to a different field to play, or let them off the leash and play fetch. If you like, you can also make your own obstacle course outside in the backyard, which can be a lot of fun!

Make sure that they are mentally stimulated

Dogs are instinctive animals. They’re also known for being highly intelligent and engaging. They frequently look to you to provide them with several opportunities to put themselves to the test. They, too, need new stimulation from time to time. As a result, it’s important that you continue to keep your dog’s mind stimulated. Try doing new tricks with them or even introducing them to other dogs on occasion. Take them on new walks, buy them new treats, or try teaching them something challenging.

Love them

Above all else, love them. Show them affection and allow them to be a part of your family and your life. A dog can bring so much joy to your life and you can bring them joy too. Treat them right, and they will be a happy addition to your home.
