We are here to live our lives as well as we can, but often, we slip into a rut of boredom and worry. It’s perfectly normal to have dips in life: after all, it cannot be exciting all the time! The thing is, there are days where you will want to challenge yourself and go a little further to feel like you are living life to the fullest. The challenges we give ourselves make us feel more confident, more alive, because we have achieved something that we set out to do.
If we allow our anxiety to immobilize us and let us down, it’s very easy to decide that we are not worthy of achieving any of the challenges to which we set. Ships are safe when they are in the docks, but that’s not where ships were supposed to be, are they? So, don’t allow your ship to be still when you should be riding oceans and exploring. You can challenge yourself and let go of the insecurities that you feel at long last. Below, we have five things that you could do to challenge yourself at last!
1 – Create Something New. We can build and make and our creative process is there to help us to feel as if we’ve achieved something. Creating something new can help you to feel like you are worthy of life. It can be anything from creating a brand new cake to creating a plan to live your life by – creativity is a must if you want to feel good!
2 – Push Your Boundaries. One of life’s biggest challenges is in pushing the boundaries of what you are comfortable to do. If you haven’t ever done the 3-peaks challenge, schedule yourself onto the next available one. If you haven’t ever sailed on a ship before, book a mini cruise or a ferry across waters. Pushing your boundaries can help you to achieve so much more than you would ever do in life!
3 – Listen Intently. It’s so hard to listen to people without giving them your advice. You want to help and solve problems, but sometimes people just need an ear to be able to vent. Sometimes, unsolicited advice can feel like judgement and you want to avoid judging your friends.
4 – Say No Without Guilt. You cannot pour from an empty cup, and that means that you should say no to those who don’t bring you joy. Saying no shouldn’t make you feel guilty and it should instead make you feel empowered.
5 – Do Something New. It doesn’t matter what it is, you need to do something new. It can be as small as trying prawns when you’ve always turned your nose up at seafood. It can be something as big as selling your house and travelling across the world. No matter what, you need to do something new to challenge yourself to face the unknown. By taking the time to challenge yourself, you can finally start to bloom into the person you want to be.

I think doing the 3 peaks challenge is in a different league to listening intently, but I do agree that sometimes, people just want you to listen, without giving any advice. They just need ti get things off their chest, without a solution being offered x

I’ve definitely learnt to say no without feeling guilty about it this year. If I don’t want to do something or don’t feel comfortable then it’s more important to say no and put myself first xx

These are some great ideas. Over the last couple of years, I’ve been trying to say no to things without feeling too guilty but it is definitely a work in progress.
I definitely want to challenge myself more, it’s something I never do x
I definitely need to say no more than I do, but I just never ever do x
Some great suggestions. I love stepping out of my comfort zone! x
Saying no was a big one for me but I definitely feel better for it now xx
I want to challenge myself in 2021 more!

YES! I am a firm believer in the importance of pushing one’s boundaries. It’s pushing past our comfort zone and trying something new that allows us to discover new skills, talents, interests and passions. It helps us to grow into better versions of ourselves.
Oh my these are fab ideas. I wish I had the guts to do some of them lol. I really am going to go for it in 2021 though and I will be applying these awesome tips as I go. Thanks so much for the advice.
